What You should Know Before Getting ANY Hair Straightening or Curling Treatment

Why Keratin Treatments, Straightening and Curling Hair Treatments are Not Good for Your Hair and Can Make Your Hair Dry, Create Breakage, Split ends and Hair Loss.

As with many hair treatments and products, you will see all the benefits (shiny smooth soft stronger hair) but don’t ignore the downside, especially if you want to keep your hair healthy and not do a lot of Harm to your hair over time. In many cases commercial hair treatments & straighteners are made with harmful chemicals.

For example; Cysteine treatments might be better than keratin treatments but still not perfect. In either case your hair structure changes and the natural oils get stripped away. Keratin treatments and other hair treatments that use chemicals can create decolorization, split ends, breakage and may lead to hair loss. Your hair deteriorates during most of these treatments.

Yes, there are Pros and Cons to getting a hair treatment, although the cons outweigh the pros in my honest opinion and in other Hair Professional’s opinions.

Some Hairstylists will not offer keratin treatments because performing the treatments over and over again in enclosed spaces can be risky and lead to watery or scratchy eyes, sore throat, nose bleeds, skin irritation, respiratory illness or cancer. The ingredients found in most traditional salon formulas like formaldehyde is defined as a colorless, strong-smelling gas that is usually used to make household products like glue, building materials, and fiberboard, and used as a preservative when dissolved in water. Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen.

What some treatments contain instead of formaldehyde are ingredients like formalin, methanal, methanediol and methylene glycol that release the carcinogenic compound when mixed with water during the treatment. While the formula might technically be formaldehyde-free, it is Not once mixed with water.

If you are looking for a less-damaging, formaldehyde-free treatment, ask your salon if they use a treatment containing glyoxylic acid. They don't straighten hair as dramatically, they're more for fighting frizz and boosting shine, but they're also safer.

Conclusion Any kind of chemical treatment is not good for your hair because it will alter the structure of your hair. Virgin hair is the healthiest. Using good quality shampoos, conditioners and hair oils like- ST. TROPICA & MORROCCO METHOD along with a healthy diet, drink enough water and protecting hair from the sun will keep your hair hydrated and healthy.
